School teacher spends the night on school's roof

A local elementary school teacher spent the night on the roof to reward his students' fundraising efforts.

Luke Tucker, a physical education teacher at John W. Reiley Elementary School in Campbell County, woke up on the roof Saturday morning.

Tucker agreed to spend the night on the roof if his students reached their fundraising goal for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The bar was set at $500.

The students stepped up their efforts and raised over $5 thousand for the cause.

"Since we reached our goal, everybody here did a few things," explained Tucker. "We had one teacher shave his head. We had some dress up like pigs or clowns today. We had a hippie, Abe Lincoln and Captain Underpants. My share is to sleep on the roof for the evening."

Tucker said he was not roughing it. He had a tent, a heater, an inflatable mattress and lots of caffeine to make it through the night.
