3-year-old boy injured in US Highway 69 North accident dies

POLLOK, TX (KTRE) -

A 3-year-old Lufkin boy died Sunday morning as a result of serious injuries he suffered in an accident on U.S. Highway 69 North in Pollok on March 29.

According to Trooper David Hendry, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Taylor Davison, 3, was pronounced dead at 8.27 p.m. Sunday. Taylor's older brother, Brylen, 5, is still in critical condition.

The accident report stated that Stephen Samuel, 21, of Lufkin, was driving a Lincoln passenger car north on Highway 69 North when he failed to yield the right of way and attempted to turn left into the parking lot of the Polk's Pick-It-Up located at 6925 Highway 69 North.

According to the report, Samuel turned into the path of a southbound black Dodge driven by Meagan Davison, 25, of Lufkin. Taylor and Brylen were also in the vehicle with her.

Samuel and Davison were taken to Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. Brylen was airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport, and Taylor was taken to Memorial and later flown to a Houston hospital.
