Cincinnati goes blue for Autism Awareness

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati went blue for Autism awareness.

April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2 is marked as World Autism Awareness Day by the United Nations.

On Tuesday, the Judson Care Center, located on Harrison Avenue, participated in 'Light Up Blue for Autism'. The center opened its Judeson Mansion to come and learn about different organizations who help families affected by autism.

The Judson Care Center is a non-profit nursing facility that has served the community since 1946.

In addition, Autism Speaks Cincinnati released 88 balloons on Fountain Square, representing the 1 in 88 children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.

Cincinnati buildings also lit up blue to mark the event.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say autism affects four times as many boys as girls, and the cause and cure remain unknown.
