DELHI, OH (FOX19) - Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act was promoted at a community forum on Tuesday.
Representatives from the Talbert House, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Greater Cincinnati Health Council are making a public display of support, saying affordable health care helps everyone.
"First of all they would have primary care access. They would have a medical home. And they would not be using the emergency room except for a qualified emergency," said Sister Sally Duffy with the Tri-Health Board of Directors.
Leaders said it is a smart investment that saves dollars and is good for our bottom line, and many our hospitals rely on Medicaid dollars to provide essential services.
On the other side, it could be most cost effective to use the money to provide private health care coverage. Some governors say the whole Medicaid system is broken and needs to be revamped.
