Semi truck driver flown to hospital after crash

WALTON, KY (FOX19) -

A truck driver was flown to the hospital Thursday morning after an accident in Boone County.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. in the 1400 block of Richwood Road.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says Cisse Kane, 53 of Cincinnati, Ohio was westbound in a Freightliner truck leased by C&K Industrial out of Cincinnati, Ohio when he went off the right side of the roadway.

Kane traveled 171 feet before bringing the rig back onto the road but over corrected, causing it to cross over into the oncoming eastbound lane and then off the road and striking a tree causing the tank to be separated from the truck frame.

Kane, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the truck. When he was freed, he was taken to University Hospital with reported non life-threatening injuries.

The road reopened just after noon.

The collision is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Unit.
