BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - A man was killed Wednesday afternoon after a workplace accident in Batavia.

The accident happened at Towne Construction Services on Kent Road.

According to an incident report from Batavia Police, Carl Root, 54, was helping unload a skid of Flex-a-Fill weighing 2,375 pounds with a Bobcat out of the back of a trailer. When the skid cleared the trailer, Root jumped out of the trailer, puling the door down. He was waiting for some papers to be signed when the Bobcat and skid tipped forward, pinning Root.

Witness say he was only pinned for a minute and was conscious and breathing when emergency crews arrived.

Root was taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital, where he died a short time later.
