CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Local lawmakers spoke out against Ohio Governor John Kasich's proposed budget on Thursday.

Ohio State Senator Eric Kearney, Ohio Rep. Dale Mallory, Rep. Denise Driehaus, and Council Members P.G. Sittenfeld, Wendell Young and Yvette Simpson all attended a protest in downtown Cincinnati, attacking Kasich's proposed budget.

The budget would lower income tax and cut taxes for small businesses, but also increase sales tax.

Those who oppose Kasich's budget say it creates an unfair tax burden and makes Ohio less economically competitive.

On the flip side, Kasich says the small business tax cut will help small businesses grow and create more jobs in Ohio.
