HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office announced a new partnership with the United States Marshals Office on Monday.
Together, they will join the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Task Force (SOFAST).
SOFAST was formed to arrest the most violent felons in the Southern District of Ohio. 'Strike Teams' are headquartered in Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus.
Members of SOFAST are deputized with the U.S. Marshal's office, meaning they can go outside of their jurisdictions to make arrests. On Monday, a swearing in ceremony was held for Hamilton County Sheriffs.
SOFAST officials say the goal of the program is to arrest dangerous fugitives as well as gain trust and cooperation from citizens to help combat gangs, guns and drugs violence.
