Tri-State roadway renamed after fallen soldier

A roadway in the Tri-State was renamed on Tuesday in honor of a fallen soldier.

Drivers on U.S. Route 42 will see a new sign that reads 'Sgt. First Class Gregory S. Rogers Memorial Highway'.

The stretch between West Chester Road and Butler Warren Road was renamed in honor of Sgt. Rogers, who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and died in 2006 when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near his convoy.

Ohio Senator Bill Cooley sponsored the bill to name the memorial highway.

Loved ones of Sgt. Rogers, members of the Patriot Guard Riders Motorcycle Club and several others were in attendance for the dedication ceremony.
