Train hits, kills pedestrian in Huntsville

A train struck a pedestrian early Wednesday morning. A train struck a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A train struck and killed a man in Huntsville early Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened around 3 a.m. between Governors West and Research Park.

Police said 32-year-old Eric David Dogenhoff, of Huntsville, was killed.

Authorities believe Dogenhoff committed suicide.

The train was carrying freight.

The conductor said he was the one who called police after he felt the train hit something.

The investigation is ongoing.
