Fact Sheet - Korean Veterans Boulevard Extension

The Korean Veterans Boulevard Extension is a new half-mile road that improves access to the area south of downtown by connecting the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge to Eighth Avenue through SoBro on the south side of the Music City Center.

•    The KVB Extension is a Complete Street that features the following:
o    Four-lane, median divided roadway from Fourth Avenue South to Eighth Avenue South
o    1.25 miles of sidewalk
o    Half-mile of bike lane
o    Transit accommodations
o    59 on-street parking spaces
o    24 bike racks, 32 benches, 12 chairs, seven trash receptacle and seven recycling receptacles

•    Green features include:
o    A bio-retention area that is 26,000 square feet
o    7,800 square feet porous concrete
o    89 new trees
o    17,608 new shrubs and ornamental plants
o    80,700 square feet of sod
o    LED traffic signals
o    LED pedestrian lighting

•    A two-lane modern roundabout at Eighth Avenue South, Lafayette Street and the KVB Extension includes a center island and sidewalks. Roundabout will feature a future public art installation.

•    Lighting features include:
o    90 sidewalk/pedestrian oriented lighted bollards (LED)
o    39 decorative street lights with banner arms and basket hangers

•    $41M total budget, including engineering, right-of-way, and construction.
