Stretch of Liberty Twp. highway dedicated to fallen soldier

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A portion of State Route 747 in Liberty Township was dedicated to a fallen soldier on Saturday.

State Route 747 , stretching from Tylersville Road to the State Route 129 ramps, has been named Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jody L. Egnor Memorial Highway.

United States Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jody Egnor died serving his country in February of 2002. He was killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of the Philippines during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Egnor, a 1988 Lakota graduate, enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, and parents Roger and Margaret who are long time Liberty Township residents.

A dedication ceremony was held Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Remarks were made by family members as well as State Representative Margaret Condit, State Senator William Coley and Township Trustee David Kern.
