Brandon Phillips hit a sacrifice fly to give the Cincinnati Reds a 3-2 victory in the bottom of the 13th inning against the Miami Marlins Saturday.
The win came on Brandon Phillips Bobblehead Day, sending thousands of lucky fans home happy.
The teams reached a 2-2 tie in the 5th inning and didn't score again until the bottom of the 13th, which started with Chin-Soo Choo hitting a ground rule double. Pinch hitter Cesar Izturis came to the plate for an injured Zach Cozart. He fouled off a couple of bunt attempts then swung away, putting Choo on third.
The Marlins then intentionally walked Votto, setting up a potential double play. Phillips was having none of it, sending what turned out to be a sacrifice fly deep to center field, allowing Choo to score the winning run.
