CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Police and firefighters in Colerain spent the day preparing for tragedy.
Northwest High School was used as a training ground for the Tactical Medic training program.
The program is designed to allow trained and equipped medical personnel to enter an active shooter scene to administer triage assessment, immediate first aide and facilitate the evacuation and transport of victims without delay.
In most active shooter circumstances, departments initially send in tactical, SWAT and police teams to apprehend the suspect and give emergency medical teams an "all clear". Authorities say that this time waiting for an "all clear" is time where lives are lost.
The Tactical Medic program aims to get rid of this of this time spent waiting.
The program aims to get trained and equipped medical personnel to victims as soon as possible.
