Ono to deliver commencement address at Cincy State

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - University of Cincinnati President Santa J. Ono will be the featured speaker at Cincinnati State's commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 5.

The event will be held at the Cintas Center at Xavier University, beginning at 3 p.m.

This year 1,004 students will graduate from Cincinnati State. One of them will be Cathy Crain, chair of the Cincinnati State Board of Trustees and a student in its Landscape Horticulture program.

The student address will be given by Yelena Simonova, a Summa Cum Laude graduate with associate degrees in applied business, business financial services and accounting. She also holds a BS degree in economics from Kazakh Economics University. Simonova is employed as a global buyer for P&G Specialty Chemicals and owns and operates VC Cleaning in Greater Cincinnati.

The commencement program will also recognize the 2013 recipients of the House/Bruckmann Awards for Faculty Excellence, Stani Kantcheva and Ryan Shadle, and a Distinguished Alumnus, Linda Pohlgeers, the associate dean for Cincinnati State's Center for Innovative Technologies.

Honorary degrees will be awarded to Elmer Hensler, the founder of Queen City Sausage, and Dianne Dunkelman, a Cincinnati philanthropist who was the founder and former CEO of Speaking of Women's Health®.
