Cincinnati Fire Union, Dept discuss potential layoffs

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local fire department leaders discussed potential funding cuts on Tuesday.

Representatives from the Cincinnati Fire Fighters Union sat down with members of the fire department administration for a closed-door meeting about the possibility of layoffs and closings of firehouses.

Cincinnati's privatized parking plan was put on hold after petitioners collected enough signatures to put the issue on the November ballot. Following, city leaders expressed that layoffs are unavoidable to close the city's $35 million budget deficit.

The privatized parking plan would pay $92 million up front and $3 million annually.

Union leaders said their biggest concern about the layoffs is delayed response

Specific positions or the exact date that layoffs will begin has not yet been announced.
