Worker injured at construction site

A worker was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being injured at a construction site.

It happened just after 8 a.m. on Albert Sabin Way, at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's Clinical Sciences Building construction site.

The worker was employed as a carpenter by Messer Construction. A Messer officials says the worker was struck during a routine construction procedure involving the removing of scaffolding in which a single piece of scaffolding hand rail broke free.

The man was found in a trench next to a wall that was 15 to 20 feet deep. Heavy rescue units were able to pull the victim out using a rope and pulley system.

The worker was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but his name and condition have not been released. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Construction has resumed at the site.
