GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police have charged six teenagers in the beating death of a Columbia man who was attending a birthday party.

Investigators said 20-year-old De'Bron Harrison was trying to break up a fight that broke out at the party, which was held at the West End Community Center on Vardry Street on April 20.

Officers said the teens involved in the fight then turned their aggression toward Harrison.

Someone called police, and when they arrived, officers said they found Harrison on the ground, bleeding from the head in front of the neighboring church.

Coroner Barry Wright said Harrison died April 26 in the hospital.

Three of the beating suspects were charged as adults. Police said Ronald Brown and Brittany Irby, both 18, and Elijah Wilson, 19, are each charged with assault and battery, assault and battery by mob first degree and kidnapping.

Police said the names of the juveniles will not be released, though a 16-year-old will be charged as an adult.

Lt. Jason Rampey with the Greenville Police Department said if the suspects are convicted, they could face at least 30 years in prison.

And according to South Carolina's Code of Laws Section 16-3-210, "Any act of violence inflicted by a mob upon the body of another person, which results in the death of the person, shall constitute the felony crime of assault and battery by mob in the first degree and, upon conviction, an offender shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than thirty years."
