The Reds defeated the Washington Nationals 5-2 on Sunday at Nationals Park.
The Reds offense kicked things off early scoring two in the bottom of the first. A Brandon Phillips single scored Zack Cozart and Joey Votto.
Votto singled in the second scored Tony Cingrani following his first major league hit.
Corky Miller scored in the fourth following a Cozart single giving the Reds a 4-0 lead.
The Nationals got on the board in the seventh after a double by Kurt Suzuki drove in Ian Desmond.
The Reds got the run back in the eighth after a sacrifice fly scored Corky Miller.
Ian Desmond doubled in the eighth to score Bryce Harper making it a 2-5 ball game.
Aroldis Chapman gets his fifth save of the season.
Rookie pitcher Tony Cingrani had an interesting fourth inning. The inning began with Denard Span striking out and reaching first on a wild pitch. Cingrani went on to strike out three more in the inning giving him a grand total of four strikeouts in one inning.
With only three starts under his belt, Cingrani becomes the fifth pitcher in Reds history to strike out four batters in one inning.
