CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

There's a local push to get cornhole tournaments recognized worldwide.

Cincinnati based American Cornhole, LLC is in the final days of it's campaign to help the sport of cornhole be featured on ESPN.

Cornhole is extremely popular here in Cincinnati.

It is believed to have originated in Germany and then was rediscovered here in the tri-state region.

The American Cornhole Organization is hosting the world championships here in Cincinnati in July, and the goal of this campaign is to get national recognition for the sport by televising the event.

In order to do that, American Cornhole, LLC must raise 48 thousand dollars by the end of the day.

If you want to donate, just head to American Cornhole.com and click on the ESPN 3 banner.

The fundraising is run through a website called Kickstarter.

If you pledge, but the goal is not met, you are not charged for your donation.
