OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) - A 70-year-old Northern Kentucky man is accused of driving his grandson to buy crack in Over-the-Rhine.
Charles Allen, 70, of Dayton, KY, and his 26-year-old grandson, Kyle King, were arrested Tuesday evening on Liberty Street.
Police say they were watching King, a known drug user with an open felony probation violation, run to and enter Allen's maroon Crown Victoria. Allen then 'hurriedly' pulled away from the curb.
When police turned their lights on to stop the car, King reportedly got out of the vehicle fled on foot.
According to the police report, as officers pursued King in their cars, King's grandfather, Allen, pursued them. He reportedly did so with no headlights on, driving the wrong way down Main Street.
Allen is a Kenton County constable. Police say Allen had driven King to the area before and was aware of his drug problem.
Allen was charged with permitting drug abuse and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. King was charged with drug possession and obstructing official business.
King is currently being held in the Justice Center for an older drug abuse charge.
