CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A record number of participants competed in the Flying Pig Marathon's Friday and Saturday events. 

A record field of 3,229 finished the Toyota 10K. Only 2,902 participants competed in 2012.

Paul Odipo, a Kenyan runner competing in his first U.S. marathon at the Flying Pig, warmed up for Sunday's marathon with a win at the Toyota 10K to open Saturday's events at the Flying Pig Marathon.

Odipo, 38, runs for Team SOTENI-Kilometers for Kenya, and is competing in the Skyline Chili 4-Way challenge, running the Toyota 10K, Tri State Running Co. 5K and the Flying Pig Marathon on Sunday. His winning time was 33:54.

Second place in the men's division was Tilahun Abebe, 34, in a time of 34:18 and third was Keith Harris, 30, in a time of 35:26.

Winning the female division was 24-year-old Chelsea Koglmeier of Cincinnati, who was running her first Toyota 10K. A 2012 graduate of Duke University, Koglmeier won with a time of 39:50.

Second in the female division was Olivia Connaughton, 13, followed by Sue Dehaan.

In the Tri-State Running Co. 5K, Flying Pig veteran Chris Reis, 31, of Ludlow, Kentucky won the title in 16:31 to defend his 2012 5K championship.

Rounding out the top three were Todd Larison, 47, of Clearwater, Florida and Harvey Lewis, 30, of Dayton, Ohio.

On the women's side of the Tri-State Running Co. 5K, Kristine Durand, 35, of Batavia won with a time of 19:43. Hayley Meyer, 13, of Cincinnati and Anna Foote, 23, of Sycamore, Ohio finished second and third respectively.

There were 4,895 finishers in the 5K races.

Spike Knickel won the inaugural Little Kings One Miler on Friday night with a time of 4:26.

Second in the men's division was Jason Bumb and third was Javan Lapp.

In the women's division, the winner was Becky Clark in 5:04. Olivia Connaughton finished second followed by Halle Cupp.

The Flying Pig Marathon expects the field to exceed 33,000 for all weekend races based on early registration. Participants from all 50 states and dozens of countries including Australia, Brazil and North Korea are registered.
