ALBUQUERQUE, NM (CBS5) -

A 49-year-old member of the Navajo Nation pleaded guilty on Monday to aiding and abetting an armed robbery on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

Under the plea deal, Nielson McKensley, of Shiprock, NM, will be sentenced to between 46 and 57 months in prison.

He was arrested on Nov. 13, 2012, in connection to a robbery at a home in Shiprock that happened on Oct. 26, 2012.

Court records state that McKensley agreed to help Randy Coolidge, 46, rob the home. Police said McKensley and Coolidge put duct tape over their faces to hide their identity and tried to push their way into the home. The victim tried to take Coolidge's gun away and, as the two fought, the gun went off and Coolidge was shot in the chest and the stomach. Police said McKensley tried to drag Coolidge from the house and then left Coolidge behind and drove away.

Coolidge later died from his injuries.

McKensley has been in federal custody since his arrest and will remain there pending his sentencing.
