Mother sentenced for baby's drowning

AURORA, IN (FOX19) - An Aurora, Ind. mother has been sentenced to probation after her 5-month-old baby drowned in a baby pool.

In July of 2012, Erin O'Brien placed her 5-month-old son in a Bumbo seat in a pool and turned away. The child fell over in the pool and drowned.

According to Eagle 99.3, O'Brien pleaded guilty on Tuesday morning to a charge of reckless homicide. She was ordered to serve eight years, but six of those years will be on probation. She was also given credit for time served, so she won't face any further time behind bars.
