PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Two men were hospitalized in serious condition after a shooting at a Phoenix apartment complex early Thursday morning.

A group of people got into a fight that erupted in gunfire at an apartment complex near 57th Avenue and Thomas Road, Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said.

Officers found one man shot at the complex, and then received a call that a second victim who had been shot several times was being taken to a hospital, Martos said.

The car with the second victim ran out of gas near 55th Avenue and Osborn Road on the way to the hospital and others in the car yelled for someone to call 911, Martos said.

No suspects were in custody, Martos said.

Both victims were in their 20s and expected to survive their wounds, Martos said.

No other information was immediately available.
