Woman accused of embezzling over $135k from bank

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A federal grand jury returned an indictment Thursday charging 34-year-old Rebecca Hatfield with bank embezzlement, 46 counts of false entries in bank records, and making a false statement.

According to the indictment, from December 2007 through August 2011, Hatfield embezzled approximately $135,700 from the Bank of Kentucky.

The indictment further alleges that Hatfield intentionally made false entries into the accounting records and falsely told an FBI agent that she had not embezzled the money and suspected that another bank employee may have done so.

Hatfield's appearance before the United States District Court has not yet been set.

If convicted, Hatfield faces a minimum of probation and a maximum prison sentence of

thirty years.
