OTTAWA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

As 17-year-old Michael Fay appeared in court Friday for a charge of grand theft auto, the two teens that went missing with him Thursday were being remembered.

There are still many questions involving the three boys. An Amber Alert was issued Thursday morning for Fay, as well as 17-year-old Blake Romes and 14-year-old Blaine Romes. It was later canceled when Fay was found – but the other two were still missing.

Fay later told police the location of the others, who were found dead, just miles from where they went missing.

"Our heart goes out to the families, and also to the friends of the people who are involved," said Kevin Brinkman, superintendent of Ottawa-Glandorf Schools.

Brinkman said the Romes brothers will certainly be missed throughout the district.

"Both of the boys were very well-liked by their classmates, and they were good kids," he said. "They were a pleasure to have in our building and they contributed a great deal to what we do here, and what Ottawa Glandorf Schools stand for."

Counselors were on hand Friday to help any staff or student who needed it.

"This was a very tough day," Brinkman said. "Especially this morning, early in the morning at the faculty meeting, when you look out in the audience and you see some teachers with tears in their eyes."

It is still not clear how or why the two teens died.

Fay appeared in court Friday, but entered a denial or not guilty plea to a grand theft auto charge. Prosecutors say further charges are expected. Because they believe Fay could flee if released, and is a danger to the community, he is currently being held at the Wood County Detention Center.
