SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) - Tri-County Mall has been ordered into foreclosure sale, according to Hamilton County court documents.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Steven Martin ordered the foreclosure sale of the mall on May 1. Court documents indicate Tri-County Mall LLC owed $204.7 million, plus over $272,000 in interest and court fees.
"There's very good likely hood that what people will experience at the mall is a positive," said Jeff Tulloch, City of Springdale Economic Development Director.
Tulloch says if the new owners can buy the mall cheap, they can make improvements to the mall that would attract new tenants. Tulloch says the current owners weren't financially able to make necessary improvements.
Mall goers say the new owners should add more food and entertainment options.
"More restaurants for sure," said Samantha Staton, Tri-County Mall shopper. "Good restaurants and some cheaper places in the food court as well so we have a variety."
The property will be sold at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Sale on July 11.
