CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A 7th grader at Mt. Airy Elementary School in the Cincinnati Public School system was arrested Monday afternoon for having a gun in school.
An empty .22 caliber clip was found on school grounds. School officials did a search and a student admitted to having a handgun in a bookbag.
Cincinnati Public Schools spokeswoman Janet Walsh says the gun was not loaded and not operable.
The student was arrested and faces expulsion.
A note will be going home to parents on Tuesday regarding the incident.
School officials are not sure where the gun came from. They say it did not come from home.
