Maifest at Mainstrasse gives attendees a chance to 'touch the moon'

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Attendees at the 34th annual Maifest in Mainstrasse this weekend will have a chance to touch the moon.

Visitors will have the opportunity to touch a 3 billion-year-old moon rock brought back aboard Apollo 17, the last manned mission to the moon in 1972 as part of NASA's Driven to Explore exhibit.

Mainstrasse runs Friday, May 17 from 5 to 11:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 18 from noon to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 from noon to 9 p.m.

Maifest is free to the public and fills over six city blocks along the tree-lined 6th Street Promenade, Main Street and Philadelphia Street, and extends into Goebel Park. Free parking is available in the IRS parking lot at 4th & Johnson streets.

The event features food, drinks, games, artwork and live entertainment.
