SPRINGBORO, OH (FOX19) - The members of the Springboro Education Association voted on May 22, 2013 to grant authority to their negotiations team to file a ten (10) day strike notice if current negotiations do not result in a contract settlement.
"We are currently at the negotiations table with our school board and will continue to bargain in good faith," said Josh Cawein, Springboro Education Association spokesperson.
The content of the Board's proposal has lead SEA to take this action as officials say it includes significant concessions in salary, insurance, and working conditions that impact both the teachers and the students they teach.
Several negotiations dates have been set for June, July and August to allow the parties to continue contract discussions.
"Our hope is that we reach an agreement with the Board and there is not a need to issue a strike notice, but the SEA membership feels that it is necessary to take precautionary measures in the event an agreement cannot be reached," said Cawein.
The Springboro Education Association represents almost 330 educators employed by the Springboro Community City School District.
