Ky. First Lady encourages students to read this summer

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Each year, Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear serves as a Scholastic Reading Ambassador to encourage Kentucky students to read throughout the summer break.

In this capacity, she is given 500 Scholastic books to award to the school of her choice.

This year, she has selected to donate these books to students at John G. Carlisle Elementary in Covington.

Beshear presented the books on Tuesday and talked about the importance of summer reading.

Wednesday is the last day of school for Covington Independent.
