SB I-75 reopens after truck carrying beer crashes, catches fire

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Southbound Interstate 75 has reopened after nearly being closed for nearly eight hours.

A crash involving two semis occurred around 4 a.m. just south of the Mitchell Avenue exit.

Police say Louis Hansen, 22, attempted to change lanes and overcorrected, rear-ending another semi operated by Kwame Boadu, 61. Hansen's vehicle continued to the right berm where he struck the guard rail and a utility pole. He was ejected from the vehicle and taken to UC Medical Center in stable condition.

Boadu, who was driving a truck that was hauling beer, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries. His truck caught fire after the crash.

Fire crews say the fire was difficult to fight due to the large amount of plastics, fiberglass and diesel fuel.

Police say speed and driver inattention appear to be factors in the crash.

Damage is being estimated at $150,000.
