New traffic signal, roundabout to affect traffic around the Banks

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A new traffic signal and roundabout construction will affect traffic in the Banks area beginning Monday, June 3.

Daily lane closures will affect traffic at two locations along the Riverfront:

  • Mehring Way between Joe Nuxhall Way and Elm Street
  • The north end of the Roebling Suspension bridge at the intersection with Theodore M. Berry Way

Travelers should expect daily lane closures and should reduce speed and use caution when driving or walking in the construction area.

Traffic signal installation will take about one month and construction of the roundabout will take about two months.

The new signal at Mehring Way and the entrance to the Central Riverfront Garage/Bike Center will help traffic enter and exit the facilities and assist pedestrians crossing Mehring Way from the Smale Riverfront Park Walnut Street Fountain and the Cincinnati Bike Center to the park area on the south side of Mehring Way.

The new roundabout at the north end of the Roebling Suspension Bridge will create easier pedestrian crossings, better traffic flow within The Banks Project area and easier access on and off the bridge.
