Storms cause heavy Tri-state power outages

(FOX19) - As thunderstorms roll into the Tri-state, numerous power outages have been reported in the area.

Over 11,000 outages are reported in the area as of 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

The majority of the outages have occurred in Campbell County. Duke Energy has reported 6,447 outages in Campbell County alone. Hamilton County has 2,989 outages recorded and Warren County has 1,254. Outages have also been reported in Boone, Kenton, Butler, Brown and Clermont counties to a much lesser extent.

Duke Energy restores power for most customer outages in three hours or less. However, following a storm, or when widespread damage has occurred, outage restorations can take longer.

Customers are encouraged to contact Duke Energy at 1-800-543-5599 to report outages and get an estimated time of restoration.
