WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Police are investigating a drowning after the body of a 47-year-old man was discovered overnight in the Whitewater River.
Hamilton County Police received reports of an unresponsive subject in the river just after midnight on Friday night. Authorities responded to a residence in the 4900 block of Lawrenceburg and pulled a partially submerged male from the river.
Responding units immediately initiated CPR. Deputies continued CPR until relieved by responding EMS units.
The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 2:00 a.m.
Investigation revealed that the victim lost his footing, for some unknown reason, and fell down a steep riverbank and into the water, coming to rest on a partially submerged log.
Foul play is not expected.
The victim's name is currently being withheld pending family notification.
