HILLSBORO, OH (FOX19) -

A Richmond, Ky., couple was indicted Wednesday in connection with the discovery of a child's body found near Hillsboro.

Twenty-six-year-old Whitney Johnson and 25-year-old Nathan Ritze were both charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, two counts of tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and gross abuse of a corpse.

The body of Johnson's 1-year-old son, Garin Niehaus, was discovered May 31 in a wooded area near Hillsboro.
Police say Johnson told investigators her child had pneumonia. A coroner has said preliminary examination didn't show any obvious physical trauma to the boy's body.

Authorities have indicated they suspect the boy, Garin Niehaus, was buried in the wooded area last December.

Both are being held at the Highland County Jail. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for August 8.
