Person of interest in custody for Ripley Co. burglary

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - A 'person of interest' is in custody after a burglary in Ripley County on Monday.

On Monday, June 3, at about 10:05 a.m., deputies with the Sheriff's Office received a report of a male fleeing on foot from a residence south of Cross Plains on SR 62.

The homeowner, who rented the residence, just happen to drive by and see an unidentified male at the residence that appeared suspicious. Upon approaching the residence, the unidentified male fled on foot, leaving an unidentified vehicle in the driveway of the residence as well. 

Police units converged on the scene, deploying canines and a helicopter, as it was believed the male possibly had entered the home and attempted a burglary.

After an extensive search of the area, the unidentified male was not located. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded.

Early Tuesday morning, Robert Wright, 22, of Cross Plains, was taken into custody and arrested on a warrant out of Dearborn County for a probation violation from a Burglary conviction. Wright is a "person of interest" in this current attempted burglary investigation.

This case is still under investigation.
