MASON, OH (FOX19) - The thrill of a roller coaster ride at Kings Island will have a whole new meaning Sunday, June 9, when Kings Island hosts "Coasting for Kids 2013" to raise money for Give Kids the World (GKTW), a Central Florida non-profit resort that provides cost-free, weeklong vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
The fun-filled event is in its fourth year at Kings Island and a company-wide effort at all 11 Cedar Fair Entertainment Company amusement parks, raising a combined total of more than $200,000 since its inception.
Kings Island fans and roller coaster enthusiasts alike will enjoy a day filled with riding Diamondback and the Racer over and over again from 8:00am until 5:00pm. All participants raised a minimum of $75 for Give Kids the World to take part and will receive complimentary admission to Kings Island, a certificate of participation, a Coasting for Kids event t-shirt, lunch, a behind the scenes tour of the Beast and unlimited rides on Diamondback (8:00am – 9:15am) and Racer (10:00am – 5:00pm).
Participants raising at least $500 will receive a Coasting for Kids awareness bracelet. Participants that raised $1,000 or more will receive a special edition "Top Fundraiser" t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers at a 6:30pm ceremony in the PEANUTS Playhouse Theater.
