Panthers dominate second half to end road woes

Posted: Updated:

It seems the Albany Panthers have figured out whatever road woes ailed them this season.

The Panthers didn't allow a point in the second half and scored 21 unanswered to beat in-state rival Columbus, 35-15, Saturday night.

Panthers QB Cecil Lester, fresh off the PIFL Offensive Player of the Week award, ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead Albany offensively.

The defense though was the star of the this game.

Lions kicker Craig Camay gave Columbus a one-point lead heading into half, but that would be the last time they would dent the scoreboard.

Antwontis Cutts and Damian Daniels snagged two interceptions each as the Panthers pitched a second-half shutout.

Now the road to a Panthers' home playoff game is simple.

All they must do is win their final two games of the regular season, both of which are at home.

The loss knocks the Lions out of playoff contention.

The Panthers host Lehigh Valley next week at the Civic Center. Kickoff is at 7:30.
