Parents collect countless cards for son's birthday

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An effort is underway to get 1,600 cards for a special young man's 16th birthday.

Meet Jacob Mockbee, the son of Tucson Police Sergeant Jeff Mockbee, was born with Spinal Bifida and was told he would not live past his first birthday.

He'll be 16 this Sunday on Father's Day.

And to celebrate his special day, his a parents started a social media campaign to get him 1,600 birthday cards. Cards are coming in from all over the world, even from celebrities like football star Kurt Warner, food network star Giada and the Tim Tebow Foundation.

"When we asked Jacob what he wanted for birthday, he wanted a drivers licence.. can't get that," said Jacob's mother, Stacie Mockbee. "We really wanted to come up with something special for him."
