MT. AIRY, OH (FOX19) - A blighted building was torn down in Mt. Airy on Tuesday as part of the Neighborhood Enhancement Program.
The city/community partnership is an effort to remove blight, lower crime and improve the neighborhood. The blighted building was located in the 5600 block of Colerain Avenue.
Keep Cincinnati Beautiful coordinated a large-scale clean up with over 130 volunteers.
"This is a beginning, and we hope that it continues. And I just want to thank all the sponsors we've had and all the community members. Every time I've asked them, they've come out to help," said Mt. Airy Community Council President Cindy Walsh.
The community also saw a 3.7% decrease in blight over the 90 days, and Cincinnati Police District 5 officers made over 200 arrests.
