Liberty Center library takes action against vandalism

Posted: Updated:
LIBERTY CENTER, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Extra security measures could soon be in effect at the Liberty Center Public Library after recent vandalism. The library director says they're hoping to add security cameras outside the building.

They say they want to be proactive to prevent future vandalism.

Several other security cameras are already in place throughout Liberty Center. The library's cameras could be wired in on the same system. Once installed, footage could go straight to the sheriff's office.

Residents in the area say they think the cameras will stop crime before it happens.

"It just gives people an idea that they're being watched," said resident Dirk Dishop. "People who are thinking about doing something wrong would possibly think twice."

The library board still has to make the final decision on how many cameras they want to add and where to place them.
