MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - The U.S. Education Secretary made a visit to the Tri-State on Thursday to discuss the importance of learning.
Arne Duncan stopped by the YMCA's Children's Center, located on Miami University's Middletown campus, stressing the importance of early education.
Duncan's visit was all part of 'The Obama Preschool Initiative', a proposal to make preschool available to all 4-year-olds across the country.
"We have far to many babies across the country entering kindergarten at five-years-old, one and two years behind, and we wonder why we have achievement gaps and high dropout rates," said Duncan.
The U.S. Education Secretary also made a stop in Louisville to talk about bullying prevention.
