COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Numerous practitioners, community members, and advocates against human trafficking will meet at the Central Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition's annual conference, Unlocking the Chains on Friday, June 21 in Columbus, Ohio from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) will host this event, which includes workshops ranging from community awareness to Ohio's standards for serving victims of human trafficking. A testimony will also be shared by Barbara Freeman, a survivor of human trafficking.

"This conference will be a great opportunity for the public to engage in our community's collaborative efforts in the fight against human trafficking and learn effective strategies for combating this issue throughout Ohio," said Michelle Hannan, Director of Professional and Community Services for The Salvation Army Central Ohio.

Human trafficking is the second largest organized crime after drugs according to U.S. Department of Justice.
