Madeira High School product Andrew Benintendi has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings National Player of the Year.
A recent Madeira graduate, Benintendi finished his high school career with the second most career hits in Ohio high school history.
The Reds drafted the outfielder in the 31st round of the amateur draft, but Benintendi says he will instead honor his commitment to play baseball at Arkansas.
Benintendi was also named Gatorade Ohio Baseball Player of the Year.
