Ohio leads nation in job growth for May

(FOX19) - The State of Ohio led the nation in job growth last month, adding 32,100 jobs.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Ohio saw a 0.6% increase from April to May 2013. This was the largest month increase since 1999.

The monthly report revealed that most of the state's new jobs came from professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, government, education and health services.

The other two states with the largest over-the-month increase were Texas (+19,500) and Michigan (+18,100).

The state's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7% in May, compared to the national average of 7.6%. Nevada had the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 9.5%.

Kentucky added 3,800 jobs in May with a 0.2% increase, and Indiana saw a 0.3% increase adding 7,500 new jobs.
