TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A second suspect in the murder at American Inn Motel in Tyler turned himself in to authorities on Friday.

According to the Tyler Police Department, Darian Pilkington, 18, turned himself in at around 4 p.m..Police obtained a warrant for Pilkington in connection with the June 15 homicide and were able to make contact with him before he turned himself in.

Pilkington is being held in the Smith County Jail and bond has been set at $750,000.

Police are still looking for the first suspect identified in the homicide, Lawrence Charles Murphy, Jr..

The victim of the murder was 26-year-old Wesley Scott Lester of Tyler. According to police, the crime occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday at the motel, which is located at 1800 W. Erwin St. Investigators believe that Lester was involved in a drug deal in his motel room before he was killed by the suspects. Surveillance video shows four black males walked onto the property and went to the victim's room. Two of the suspects entered Lester's room, while the two other suspects remained outside as lookouts.

Police have determined that Lester and two other subjects were in the room at the time of the shooting. After gunfire was heard and Lester was shot, the suspects fled the scene, heading towards W. Erwin Street.

Officers responded to the call around 6:55 a.m. and discovered Lester's body inside room 218. No one else was in the room when officers arrived.
