Miami U. trustees vote to raise tuition

It will cost more to attend Miami University this fall. The board of trustees voted Friday to raise tuition 1.5%.

In dollar amount, that will be almost $200 for undergraduates in Oxford during the 2013-2014 school year.

In-state students will pay $13,266 in tuition, and out-of-state students will pay $29,056, also a 1.5% increase.

The board voted to raise tuition for graduate students by 1.5%, as well.

Miami officials say state legislature approved increases of up to 2%, however the university was able to keep that percentage a bit lower, citing efficiencies achieved on campus.

Trustees also passed an operating budget for fiscal year 2013-2014 of $667,455,287.
