SPRING GROVE VILLAGE, OH (FOX19) - The historic Spring Grove Cemetery opened its gates to the dogs on Sunday.
The Sixth Annual Dog Days of Summer event was held on Sunday to benefit Tails of Hope Animal Rescue.
For 364 days of the year, the cemetery does not permit dog owners to share the beauty of Spring Grove with their pets. However, one day out of the year owners can spend an entire day at the cemetery with their four-legged buddies.
Named a National Historic Landmark in 2007, the park has over 45 miles of paved roads throughout the 400 developed acres of the park. Canines and owners were able to follow any of the trails at their convenience.
Water stations were provided along the route along with cooling station swimming pools for the pets.
The event was free to the public. All participants were asked to donate one item from the Tails of Hope Wish list. Tails of Hope Animal Rescue is dedicated to finding forever homes for dogs and puppies that were abandoned at County Shelters.
